Fruska gora is a low mountain surrounded by arable land, its highest peaks being Crveni cot (539 m.a.s.l.) and Iriski venac (516 m.a.s.l.). It is about 80 kilometres long and some 10 km wide. Forest covers 90 per cent of the national park, one third of it lime, also oak and beech. Lower slopes are overgrown by grassland, orchards and vineries.

Birdwise, 211 species were recorded in the park, Black Stork, Eurasian Honey-buzzard, Lesser Spotted and Eastern Imperial Eagles, European Turtle-Dove; Barn, Tawny and Short-eared Owls; Lesser Spotted, Middle Spotted, Syrian and Black Woodpeckers; Red-backed Shrike, Short-toed Treecreeper, Common Chiffchaff, Wood and Icterine Warblers, Collared Flycatcher, Tree Pipit, Ortolan Bunting, in some years also Black-headed Bunting and Hawfinch.

Getting there: Access is possible from several directions, mainly from the old Novi Sad – Belgrade and from the Novi Sad – Ruma roads. The road going along the mountain ridge should be avoided as much as possible – it is ill maintained and dangerously potholed.

When to go: breeding season is surely the best.
